BELGRADE EU Commissioner for Employment and Social Affairs Laszlo Andor and Serbian officials conferred on drafting a program of employment and social policies reforms. Based on this program Serbia, with support of the EU, "would kick off a comprehensive social reform." Talks on program of reforms of social policy Andor conferred on the program with Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Labor, Employment and Social Policy Jovan Krkobabic and Minister without portfolio in charge of EU Integration Branko Ruzic. Nine percent of the population live below the poverty line, the unemployment rate stands at 24 percent and among young people 50 percent are unemployed and therefore it is very important to adopt and implement this strategic document, Ruzic said at a press conference after the meeting. The minister said that the meeting also discussed the inclusion of Roma and other minority groups, children's rights and all other segments of social policy and justice that Serbia aspires to. Commissioner Andor said that the program will refer to the labor market, employment, development of skills and knowledge, social justice and inclusion, and its drafting and monitoring of the implementation will involve all social partners and representatives of the civil society. "I believe that the challenges such as unemployment and poverty or problems in education call for a comprehensive reform and Serbia should discuss the effectiveness of the existing social system and measures," Andor said. He said that it is necessary to intensify the social dialogue which, as he put it, is insufficiently developed in Serbia. Laszlo Andor (Tanjug) Tanjug
