BELGRADE An exhibition entitled "Tesla's Vision of the Internet" was opened over the weekend in Belgrade as part of the cultural and tourist route "Tesla's Ways." The exhibition was organized and is hosted by the University of Belgrade's School of Electrical Engineering (ETF), and by Klaster Puteva Kulture (Cluster of Roads of Culture). Exhibition "Tesla's Vision of Internet" opens in Belgrade ETF Dean Branko Kovacevic recalled that, together with Mihajlo Pupun, the Serbian-American scientist and inventor was a founder of the ETF in 1894. In 1903, Serbia got its first electric power plant designed according to Tesla's concepts on the Djetinja River in Uzice, western Serbia, "only four years after the construction of the first thermal power plant on Niagara Falls in the U.S.," said Kovacevic. "Nowadays, 99 percent of industry is based on Tesla's designs, from trams and factories to home appliances, mobile telephony and the internet," he recalled, and underscored that Tesla brought about an industrial revolution which is still underway, "and perhaps only the works of Leonardo da Vinci can be compared to that of the Serbian scientist." The exhibition will be open until the end of October. Nikola Tesla Tanjug
