GRACANICA President of the B92 Fund and B92 Board of Directors Veran Matic on Friday received the Gramata Award. The award is given in recognition and as a sign of gratitude by SPC Bishop of Raska-Prizren and Kosovo-Metohija Teodosije, and was presented to Matic at the Gracanica Monastery. B92's Matic honored with Gramata recognition Gramata is the top recognition given by the bishop for altruistic contributions to the humanitarian assistance to the poor in Kosovo. Matic on Friday, in the presence of Bishop Teodosije and U.S. Ambassador in Pristina Tracy Jacobson, opened a goat farm that will be working as a part of the soup kitchens located in Kosovo. The farm will help these institutions become self-sustainable. These soup kitchens provide food for more than 2,000 impoverished people every day in the Kosovo enclaves. The B92 Fund has supported the construction of the farm, and the purchase of 180 dairy goats. "Our goal is also to employ the users of the kitchens in these projects, which would certainly reinstate their dignity, but also increase the production itself. I hope we will soon gather enough funds for a dairy, and I would especially like to invite donors to contact us so that we can collect enough food for the soup kitchens to be open through the fall and the winter," said Matic. The donors who helped B92 realize this project successfully include: Mercy Corps, USAID and BPRM (to the amount of USD 43,000), the B92 Fund and the Solidarity for Kosovo humanitarian organization (USD 20,000 each), Serb students in Switzerland, organized by Mirel Kisic, the Serbs for Serbs and Radost Moja humanitarian organizations, the Delije Sever association of citizens, Banca Intesa, and the Berat family from Peroj. At the same time, since 2011, crops and vegetables used in the soup kitchens are being cultivated on 15 hectares of Church land in the municipality of Vitina. This project was realized thanks to the B92 Fund and the Serbian power company EPS, which contributed RSD 2 million. (B92) B92
