Serbian and Greek army chiefs-of-staff meet

BELGRADE Serbian Army Chief of Staff Gen. Ljubisa Dikovic has met in Belgrade with Chief of the Greek National Defense General Staff Gen. Mikhail Kostarakos. The two generals discussed the two countries' military cooperation, Tanjug reported. Serbian and Greek army chiefs-of-staff meet Dikovic told reporters ahead of the talks with his Greek colleague that the meeting would cover the security situation in the region and modes of future military and defence cooperation, primarily through merging the capacities for training and further education. The Serbian Army and the Armed Forces of Greece maintain excellent cooperation, primarily in terms of staff training as 80 Serbian officers graduated in Greece, Dikovic said. “We will offer our capacities, such as the CBRN (ABHO) Training Center, certain repair capacities in which Greece expressed interest and we will also continue with education and staff training, both in Greece and in Serbia,” Dikovic said. General Kostarakos underscored that Greece is Serbia's permanent partner and strongly supports Serbia's efforts aimed at accession to the EU and various international organizations, and added that his country will continue Serbia's EU path. There are a number of multinational and European security factors with the seat in Greece through which Serbian officers can learn about European security institutions and procedures.
