BELGRADE, BRUSSELS Aleksandar Vucic says "the shameful attack on EULEX members is actually aimed against Serbia and Serbs," noting that the government's response would be fierce. “This is an attempt to ruin all that Serbia achieved in the previous period. Serbia has no right to keep quiet and let terrorists and extremists believe they can run Serbia,” the first deputy PM said in Belgrade on Thursday. "Govt. response to attack on EULEX will be fierce" Vucic said that he has the authority on behalf of President Tomislav Nikolic, who is currently visiting Bulgaria, to condemn the criminal act of murder of the Lithuanian EULEX member. “The attack is aimed against Serbs and Serbia and it stands for all its shamefulness,” Vucic said. “Our response will be fierce,” the deputy prime minister stated. “Serbia will help in the investigation as much as it can, and those who believe that such crimes can get away unpunished should know that they will never have a safe haven in the territory of Serbia,” Vucic said. A EULEX staff member died after an incident near Zvecan in northern Kosovo-Metohija on Thursday morning. The person, member of the EULEX Customs Component, received a gunshot wound when two EULEX vehicles, carrying six staff members, came under fire from unknown individuals in the vicinity of Zvecan at approximately 7.30 a.m. this morning. The wounded EULEX member was taken to the Kosovska Mitrovica hospital where he died from his injuries.
