BELGRADE The Serbian parliament is on Monday continuing, for the third day, the debate on electing new ministers in the reshuffled government. Once the debate concludes, MPs should vote to elect the new cabinet members, who will then take their oath of office. Parliament continues debate on reshuffled cabinet The debate started on August 30 when PM Ivica Dacic read his expose, and said his government's goals will be modernization of the country, a just solution to the Kosovo question, halting the economic crisis and creating jobs. According to Dacic, Serbia's public finances and economic system are in "a very difficult and alarming" condition. On Saturday, parliament discussed the candidates for new ministers, when the opposition continued to criticize the expose, with MPs saying the text did not provide the answers to the main questions: why the government was being reshuffled in the first place, whether there would be a change of policy, and why Economy and Finance Minister Mladjan Dinkic was replaced, while his URS party left the cabinet. On Thursday, MPs voted to approve the draft changes to the Law on Ministries, enabling the reconstructed government to have 18 departments and two new ministers without portfolio. (File) Beta
