BELGRADE Serbian president's advisor Marko Djuric has said that the deadline to submit elections lists for the local polls in Kosovo "could be extended." "I think it is very important to allow all those who wish to take part in this election process to do so. We saw the readiness on the part of the representatives of the international community to, when it comes to the deadlines (Sept. 4), be as accommodating as possible toward the representatives of the Serb community." Deadline for Kosovo election lists "could be extended" "In the coming days we'll see about any concrete decisions related to that," he told the Belgrade-based daily Politika. This adviser to Tomislav Nikolic also pointed out that Serbia "will not accept to take part in an election that has a single symbol of the fake state of Kosovo." Asked what guarantees there were that "if Belgrade managed to take the Kosovo coat-of-arms off the ballot papers" now, it would not reappear in the next elections, Djuric said the November polls were "a test and preparation for parliamentary elections in the spring." "Parliamentary elections in the province, for which this election is a test and preparation in the political sense, will take place in the spring. Like this election, they will be a historic opportunity to turn around the political trend of Serbs being pushed out of the Kosovo public scene. If the Serbs take part in the election and if the EU continues to support the communication process and the inclusion of Serbs in the political system in the province, (Pristina) certainly will not be able to impose any symbols of statehood," said he.
