BELGRADE One of the leaders of the Dveri Movement was arrested on Monday during the marking of the 99th anniversary of the Battle of Cer. According to the political organization, Slavisa Miletic was detained by the police because he engaged in "a verbal conflict" with PM Ivica Dacic. MUP denies man was arrested for confronting PM The police in the town of Sabac confirmed that a man had been detained during the ceremonies in nearby Tekeris. Beta learned from the police sources that the person was brought before a misdemeanor court judge. Later on Monday, the Interior Ministry (MUP) issued a statement denying that Miletic was detained for verbally confronting Dacic, and added that he never came in contact with the prime minister. According to the police, Miletic was brought in and later released for disturbing the peace and public order at Tekeris, and not for "verbal conflict." Earlier in the day, Dveri issued a statement to say that Miletic was heading a Dveri delegation at the event, and that when Dacic showed up, he "entered into a verbal conflict" with the prime minister, who was there to open the commemoration. According to the statement, Miletic addressed Dacic as "the traitor of Kosovo and Metohija," and asked how it was possible that he did not feel ashamed to arrive at such important historical places of the Serb people, those that are symbols of heroism and fighting for freedom - "considering that he was heading a government violating the Constitution and handing over a part of the state territory to the terrorist regime in Pristina." "Instead of a response from Dacic, the police organs reacted by arresting Miletic and in that way sending a clear message that Serbia was slipping into a dictatorship and a state of emergency, where it will be impossible to utter the words criticizing the regime, which gained power by stealing votes in the elections last year and then going back on all its election promises," the movement's statement said. Dveri also stated that they were demanding the immediate release of Miletic, reminding the Interior Ministry that the role of the police was "not to persecute those citizens who speak the truth and fight for Serbia, but to protect the state from the crime of treason and violations of the Constitution." The cabinet of PM Ivica Dacic - who also serves as interior minister - is yet to make any statement. Dacic delivers his speech at Tekeris (Tanjug) B92 Beta
