BELGRADE After the decision of PM Ivica Dacic to remove his party from the ruling coalition, Mladjan Dinkic says the process would end with the departure of - Dacic. "I expected it to end like this because I just know that there are commitments stemming from the Brussels agreement, this is not a time for early elections and the SNS at this time cannot form a majority without Dacic." Dinkic for B92: It was one strange government "For me, this is not the end, this is the beginning of a process that will actually end with the departure of Ivica Dacic," said Mladjan Dinkic, the URS party leader and finance and economy minister. Dinkic described the cabinet his party forged a year ago with Dacic (SPS) and Aleksandar Vucic (SPS) as "strange." He said that in the first nine months it "functioned great," and sees as the greatest successes of his department the stabilization of public finances, "rescue from bankruptcy," and reduction of the budget deficit. However, he noted, "everything could not be done in just one year." "I think I've done the best I could in Serbia and abroad. The effects cannot be seen in the short term. Five years ago I brought Fiat, and only this year we see the first effects," said the leader of the United Regions of Serbia (URS). Asked about his regrets, he said there was only one - that the financial discipline had not been strengthened sooner. He also mentioned that "more investors could have been brought." "The (Jat Airways) contract with Etihad is the crown, of course, as for other departments, there's the opening of negotiations (with the EU), for which Suzana Grubjesic also takes credit." Dinkic said he would accept cooperation with Aleksandar Vucic in the future, but not with "the current prime minister." Still, he added, this does not mean that one day the URS and the SPS will not cooperate - he had Ivica Dacic personally in mind. Dinkic promised to assist his successor in their work, "explain what was done and what to expect." Dinkic also said that, although he did not plan to, he would soon take a vacation, and then return to parliament in his role as MP. "We will be a constructive opposition. I know that many people think it's the end, it's over. I will quote Milan Mladenovic, 'when it's the end, know that for me it has only started'. " Dinkic also said he was not willing to predict for how long the government will remain in its new composition. "It does not bother me, the URS will be a constructive opposition, the pressure will not relent, there will be early elections or a recomposition of this government," said Dinkic. (Beta, file) B92
