BELGRADE Aleksandar Vucic has said the government reshuffle "will be serious and thorough to such an extent that it will set the standard for all future governments." The deputy PM and SNS party leader hopes the government will not fall because of an inability to reach an agreement between the coalition partners when it comes to the reshuffle, but points out that an election would suit the SNS because of the support it currently enjoys. Vucic announces "thorough" cabinet reshuffle No one would want Serbia to lose another 3 months to an election campaign, but an election has to occur if things are not functioning right, and there has been no agreement in the government coalition, Vucic stressed. "That why I cannot guarantee to anyone there will be no election," he told the Belgrade based weekly Vreme. According to Vucic, the reshuffle does not just potentially threaten the government's survival, but also his position in the SNS, since the reshuffle will include the SNS people as well. However, the reshuffle is necessary because it sets new standards when it comes to responsibility, so the people will demand that the future governments to be efficient immediately after formation, Vucic underscored. Aleksandar Vucic spoke on the same subject again on Thursday to say he expects his party's presidency session on Saturday "to be hard" when the reshuffle comes up on the agenda. Vucic said that it is difficult to find ministers who will admit that they are not doing a good job, and that through the restructuring of the government objective criteria will have to be set for evaluating the work of its members. "If people are aware that they will be evaluated every six months and that nobody is irreplaceable and untouchable, they will all take care and their commitment and energy will be at much higher levels. If not, I'm afraid we'll get to the rut and backwater from which there is no return, where it will not matter who is going to be a minister, secretary of state or anything else," said Vucic. The process of reconstruction of the government will come, as he pointed out, not because someone is forcing the ruling coalition, but because of the "sense of responsibility." Vucic added that he expects "comprehensive, thorough, serious and responsible changes." (Tanjug, file) Vreme Tanjug
