BELGRADE President Tomislav Nikolic presented officer's sabers to the three best-ranked officers of the 56th class of the Command Staff specialization on Thursday. Nikolic presented the traditional military decorations to Lieutenant Colonel Tiosav Jankovic, Lieutenant Colonel Dragan Mesarovic and Lieutenant Colonel Mile Vitezovic, whose average grade is 9.40 out of 10. At the ceremony at the National Assembly House, Nikolic presented badges to the attendees of the 2nd class of the High Security and Defence Studies on the occasion of successful completion of the specialization. Nikolic stated during the ceremony that Serbia and other Balkan countries want a prosperous future in the community of the European peoples, stressing that the preservation of peace, creation of the country's resistant and strong security system and development of regional cooperation serve the citizens, the state and the society as a whole to strive for their goals and realize their dreams in peace and security. He underlined that only wisdom survives, and its basis is knowledge, and also prudence, upbringing and experience. “We need wisdom to preserve the heritage we got from the previous generations. We need vision, patience and good will to renew and strengthen the relations and cooperation in the region. Serbia and other Balkan countries want a prosperous future in the community of the European peoples because the fates of our countries and peoples are inextricably linked. I kindly ask the students from other countries to convey this message to their heads,” Nikolic said. The president told officers that Serbia sees them as a team which shares the same values and has the same mission and task. “The strength of this team comes from its purpose and goals, and there are no greater collective goals than defending a country and strengthening its security system. The preservation of peace, creation of a resistant and strong security system and development of regional cooperation, among other things, serve the citizens, the state and the society as a whole to strive for their goals and realize their dreams,” Nikolic said. Previously, Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister Aleksandar Vucic presented officer's sabers to officers who have successfully finished the Command Staff specialization in the 56th class. The ceremony was attended by Chief of the General Staff of the Serbian Army Gen. Ljubisa Dikovic, Serbian Parliament Speaker Nebojsa Stefanovic, several cabinet ministers. foreign military envoys, MPs, numerous prominent public and cultural figures, and Serbian Patriarch Irinej.
