BELGRADE Newly-appointed Iranian Ambassador to Serbia Majid Fahimpour says he advocates advancement of cooperation between the two countries. The diplomat organized a reception for reporters on Wednesday evening on the occasion of his appointment to the office, and "wished success to the people and government in Serbia in accomplishing their goals." Iran is very interested in the development of bilateral relations in the areas of culture, economy and politics, he said. He noted that Iran recently run the presidential elections, which were won by Hassan Rouhani and conducted in a good atmosphere showing that true democracy is in effect in Iran. "A very good atmosphere has been created in Iran," Fahimpour said, and expressed hope that all countries will use the opportunity to develop good relations with Iran. The new Iranian ambassador arrived in Serbia in May, and on June 11 he presented the credentials to Serbian President Tomislav Nikolic and started his term of office as extraordinary and plenipotentiary ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Serbia.
