Privatization Agency officials remanded in custody

BELGRADE The Special Court in Belgrade has remanded two Privatization Agency officials, arrested earlier this week, in custody for 30 days. The corruption case concerns the privatization of the Tehnohemija company. Privatization Agency officials remanded in custody The Organized Crime Prosecution on Wednesday questioned the suspects, Aleksandar Vucetic and Ljiljana Mladjen, and asked that they be remanded in custody. A third suspect, former Privatization Agency Director Miodrag Djordjevic, is already in prison on suspicion that he was involved in another corruption case - the sale of Port of Belgrade. The three suspects in the Tehnohemija case, as members of a commission that checked whether contractual obligations had been met, approved Rista Gojkovic's investment, based on which his banking guarantee was refunded, and he made material gains. But Gojkovic's legal representative said that "no gains has been made," considering that his client bought additional facilities at a subsequent request of the Privatization Agency, and that the contract was still terminated. Gojkovic filed a lawsuit, and that trial is still ongoing. B92
