BELGRADE Serbia’s First Deputy Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic says he is convinced that Serbia will get a date for the start of the EU accession negotiations in June. He said on Sunday that the government’s first job after getting a date for the beginning of the EU accession talks would be to bring investors to Serbia. “We expect Europe to accept us as partner” “We want Siemens but not only in Subotica but in another three factories in Serbia. We expect Europe to accept us as a partner and we will show that we can do it and that we have laws that respect foreign investments and that investors can make profit in our country,” Vucic said. “Even though life is still hard in Serbia, we have managed to get some things going and we will not stop until we create Serbia in which everybody will be sure of their future and future of their children,” he stressed. “We have launched several difficult and big things that nobody before us did not want to deal with, from Agrobanka case, (Delta Holding owner Miroslav) Miskovic and now Galenika (pharmaceutical company). We have proven we are building Serbia where nobody will be protected by political affiliation if they commit crimes,” the deputy PM noted. He announced that the probes into all 24 suspicious privatizations would be completed by the end of the year. “Today everybody in Serbia knows that it does not pay to steal and that the laws need to be respected,” Vucic underscored.
