JERUSALEM Israel has carried out an air strike targeting a consignment of missiles in Syria bound for Hezbollah in neighboring Lebanon. "In last night's attack, as in the previous one, what was attacked were stores of Fateh-110 missiles that were in transit from Iran to Hezbollah," Reuters quoted a "western intelligence source" as saying. Anonymous Israeli officials confirmed on Saturday that Israel had carried our an airstrike against Syria, targeting a shipment of missiles heading to Hezbollah in Lebanon.

The Israeli airstrikes have come at the time when the U.S. is mulling over a response to allegations that the Syrian regime has used chemical weapons.
