BELGRADE Aleksandar Vulin says that Serbia is ready for dialogue on Kosovo and wants a solution - "and for its arguments to be heard and national interests respected." Commenting on Hashim Thaci's statement that he found the possibility of Belgrade-Pristina negotiations without a mediator "to not be serious," the director of the Government Office for Kosovo and Metohija remarked that "the only thing that's not serious is to offer Serbia an agreement on an empty paper, containing nothing." Solution for Kosovo "must respect Serbia's interests" "It is very frivolous of Mr. Thaci to behave like that - to threaten with war one day, and say that he will not negotiate the next," Vulin told Belgrade-based TV Pink outlet early on Monday. According to this official, Belgrade has been engaged in negotiations "more with the international community than with Mr. Thaci," because, according to him, the head of the government in Pristina "does not have much of a say in this." Vulin added that he wished that EU foreign policy chief Catherine Ashton, who is starting a tour of the region, would also visit our country. "If she comes here, it will mean that she has some proposal, that something will move forward," he stated, and added that Ashton's visit "unfortunately, does not depend only on her." Vulin then said that the reactions to Belgrade's decision to reject an agreement offered during the EU-sponsored Kosovo talks was expected - "because nobody expected that Serbia would unilaterally abolish its independence", and added that "a certain amount of respect has even been won in this way." Asked whether there was a date by which "some solution" for Kosovo and Metohija should be expected, Vulin said that such a date did not exist, and noted that the problems in Kosovo and Metohija "have been ongoing for centuries."
