BELGRADE EU High Representative Catherine Ashton’s Spokeswoman Maja Kocijancic says Belgrade and Pristina have been given time for consultations. She added that Ashton now “awaits their response”. EU’s Ashton awaits Belgrade, Pristina's decisions “Decision that Belgrade and Pristina are facing in their efforts to reach a deal in the dialogue, primarily regarding northern Kosovo are extremely difficult so some statements of leaders of negotiating teams are understandable,” diplomatic sources from Brussels said on Friday. “This is a kind of a ‘political talk’ in the Balkans,” the sources told Beta news agency, when asked to comment on Belgrade officials statements that Serbia had been offered to capitulate in the talks and Pristina officials’ statements that their stances were harmonized with the EU and speculations that the Pristina authorities could take over northern Kosovo “with the help of the international community” if the agreement was not reached. When asked how Ashton saw these statements, Kocijancic said that “both sides were given time to perform consultations at home and their replies are now awaited”.
