KOSOVSKA MITROVICA Serbia's Office for Kosovo Director Aleksandar Vulin says the latest statements by Kosovo PM Hashim Thaci constitute a threat that gives cause for concern. Commenting on Thaci's statement that the failure to reach an agreement could lead to “the deterioration of the situation”, Vulin said on Thursday evening that what Thaci was saying was yet another in a series of blackmails and threats that were not being punished by the international community. Kosovo PM's statements “give cause for concern” Advisor to the Serbian president Marko Djuric said, also in response to Thursday's statement by Kosovo prime minister, that political pressures could not undermine Belgrade's resolve. “We are concerned and expect the international community to explain to us what Thaci is talking about and whether they know something we don't. As far as we are concerned, the situation in northern Kosovo and other areas populated by Serbs is completely stable and could be destabilized only by violence, and violence will certainly not come from Serbia,” Vulin told Tanjug. Vulin underlined that Serbia would not use threats. Djuric told Tanjug that Serbia deemed that it was very important that everyone involved in the negotiating process be aware of the responsibility for ensuring security conditions in Kosovo and the wider region. “No one could benefit from “saber-rattling”, political or other threats. In that sense, Serbia will never be the one to add fuel to the fire or stir violence from any side,” he stressed. Thaci said in Pristina on Thursday that the failure to reach an agreement could lead to “the deterioration of the situation”, announcing that if Belgrade did not accept an agreement proposal, Pristina would establish its institutions in the north too. “That solution would also be the most difficult one for Serbs,” the Kosovo prime minister said.
