UN General Assembly (UNGA) President Vuk Jeremić has said that he will not be active in Serbian politics as long as he holds his office at the UN.

BELGRADE UN General Assembly (UNGA) President Vuk Jeremic has said that he will not be active in Serbian politics as long as he holds his office at the UN. Jeremic was recently expelled from the Democratic Party (DS). Jeremic “won't join any party while holding UNGA office“ “I have no intention to become engaged in local politics until the completion of the Serbian presidency of the UN General Assembly,” Jeremic told Belgrade-based daily Blic. “This is a great opportunity for our country, which will be there for only the next six months, and I want to devote myself entirely to that so that the country could derive greater benefit from it,” he added. On Tuesday, only a few days after Jeremic was expelled from the DS, Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) deputy leader Bratislav Gasic invited the UNGA president to join the party. “I have no intention to become engaged in local politics until the completion of the Serbian presidency of the UN General Assembly,” Jeremić told Belgrade-based daily Blic.

“This is a great opportunity for our country, which will be there for only the next six months, and I want to devote myself entirely to that so that the country could derive greater benefit from it,” he added.

On Tuesday, only a few days after Jeremić was expelled from the DS, Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) deputy leader Bratislav Gašić invited the UNGA president to join the party.
