BELGRADE The Statutory Commission of the Democratic Party (DS) expelled Vuk Jeremic from the party late on Friday. Jeremic, who currently serves as a president of the United Nations General Assembly, was expelled by a unanimous decision. DS Statutory Commission expels Jeremic from party The decision to expel him from the party comes after Jeremic refused to obey the DS Main Board which decided that all party members who were ministers in the previous government should return their MP mandates. Jeremic was the country's foreign minister in the previous government. On February 19, Jeremic asked the Constitutional Court of Serbia to appraise the DS' decision to expel him and the Court initiated proceedings to review its constitutionality and legality. DS Statutory Commission expels Jeremić from party

The decision to expel him from the party comes after Jeremić refused to obey the DS Main Board which decided that all party members who were ministers in the previous government should return their MP mandates.

Jeremić was the country's foreign minister in the previous government.

On February 19, Jeremić asked the Constitutional Court of Serbia to appraise the DS' decision to expel him and the Court initiated proceedings to review its constitutionality and legality.
