An elderly woman has been attacked and seriously injured in the Gerontology Center in the eastern Serbian town of Knjaževac.

KNJAZEVAC An elderly woman has been attacked and seriously injured in the Gerontology Center in the eastern Serbian town of Knjazevac. The woman's eyes were gouged out and she has six broken ribs. Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Clinic Director Dragan Krasic says that the 83-year-old victim came with injuries to both eyes. He added that the elderly woman’s ribs had been broken but that she was now stable. “Judging by the nature of the injuries and scratches on her body, it does not appear to be a case of self-injuring but the investigative organs will have the final say and determine what really happened in Knjazevac’s Gerontology Center,” Krasic explained. Gerontology Center Director Predrag Randjelovic said that O.S. was found in a bathroom with serious injuries on March 11. “The police and investigative organs have started an investigation in order to determine what happened exactly,” he added, noting that the Center had more than 200 patients.
