BELGRADE Presidential advisor Oliver Antic says the EU, "if it wants Serbia as its part", should pressure Pristina as well to make concessions in the Kosovo talks. "First Deputy Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic said it well that nothing could be ideal. President (Tomislav) Nikolic also knows what the line is, which he cannot cross, and he will try everything - but it's not possible that only one side makes concessions in negotiations - that's not negotiations," Antic told public broadcaster RTS. "No date means EU doesn't want Serbia yet" Asked what he expected from today's meeting of the state leadership of Serbia with EU High Representative Catherine Ashton in Brussels, he stated that if the EU wanted Serbia as its part - "like it has been saying" - it would have to "pressure Pristina a little to make concessions where they have to". Antic added that "if there is no news about a date, this means that the EU does not yet want Serbia". "We are ready to not receive a date, we know where the line is over which we can not go," he noted, and added that it was now "up to the EU, not Serbia". Antic, who last week attended the funeral of Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez as special envoy of President Nikolic, said that the Serbian state decoration posthumously awarded to Chavez had met with "a good emotional reception" both from his family, and the new interim president, Nicolas Maduro. The presidential advisor said that during his stay in Venezuela he had the opportunity to talk with representatives of many countries, stating that this was a part of the world that was making progress and recording economic growth of between 5.5 and 7.5 percent of GDP, in contrast to some other parts of the world, including Europe, which is in recession. Antic said that Serbia must therefore be more present there and added that everyone "showed their understanding for Serbia's problems". According to him, Serbia is "emotionally present" in Latin America - something which he believes is "important for future business with that part of the world".
