PRISTINA EULEX Chief Bernd Borchardt has called on Serbs from northern K. Mitrovica to cooperate with EULEX and Kosovo police in finding perpetrators of bomb attacks. EULEX calls on Serbs to cooperate on bomb attack probes “Every night, together with members of Kosovo police, we search certain motor vehicles and question individuals. We also provide support and cooperate with the police in ongoing investigations,” the EULEX head explained. According to him, flyers and press releases have been distributed to northern Kosovo citizens, informing them that EULEX’s role in solving of problems in northern Kosovo would significantly increase. “Not a single police service can be successful without cooperation and help of the entire society. We want to encourage the population with flyers and press releases to inform us if they have any information about explosions. We want to find perpetrators,” Borchardt stated. He noted that he did not want to comment on ongoing investigations but that investigators needed witnesses whose help would be of extreme importance in discovering the bombers. Borchardt stressed that he was not satisfied with the freedom of movement of EULEX members in the north. “All these barricades need to go, this is not a normal situation. At the crossings, the work is pretty normal. Of course, I cannot speculate what can happen in the future but I want to assure you that we will make significant effort, and Mitrovica is the example, where EULEX police supports Kosovo police until late every night,” he concluded.
