BELGRADE Deputy War Crimes Prosecutor Bruno Vekaric said on Friday that justice has been partially down with the verdict rendered against a paramilitary group. The group was known as "Sima's Chetniks", and several of the its members received maximum penalties. Justice "partially done" with verdict for paramilitaries "When you hear about the crimes that were committed it is hard to express satisfaction, especially when you hear about someone killing children aged between two and 12, a pregnant woman, and another 20 people," Vekaric told reporters in front of the courthouse. He said the Prosecutor's Office will decide whether to appeal after it receives the verdict. The message the trial chamber sent with the verdict against the group was appropriate for the crimes committed in Zvornik, he said. "This should be a message from the chamber that such crimes cannot happen ever again and that we do not need such people walking free," said Vekaric. On Friday the War Crimes Chamber of the Belgrade District Court sentenced seven members of the group to a total of 73 years in prison, ranging from two to 20 years, for war crimes against civilians in villages in the Zvornik municipality in eastern Bosnia in 1992 and 1993.
