MPs adopt proposal to dismiss Court of Cassation president
The Serbian parliament on Wednesday adopted a proposal to dismiss Supreme Court of Cassation (VKS) President Nata Mesarović.

BELGRADE The Serbian parliament on Wednesday adopted a proposal to dismiss Supreme Court of Cassation (VKS) President Nata Mesarovic. Opposition Democratic Party (DS) and Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) were against the proposal. MPs adopt proposal to dismiss Court of Cassation president 138 MPs of the ruling majority voted to dismiss Mesarovic, while 45 DS and LDP MPs voted against it. Parliament debated whether to dismiss Mesarovic at a proposal of the High Judicial Council (VSS). The VSS requested that she be relieved of her duty based on the Constitutional Court’s assessment that a regulation, based on which she was appointed, was unconstitutional. Mesarovic has also been dismissed as the VSS president but she will continue to serve as a VKS judge. The MPs earlier today adopted changes to the Law on the Military Security Agency (VBA) and the Military Intelligence Agency (VOA) and a Law on South Steam gas pipeline that will speed up expropriation of the land and preparations for the construction of the pipeline in Serbia.
