BELGRADE Democratic Party of Serbia (DSS) leader Vojislav Kostunica has said that Serbia must not at any cost be the West’s accomplice in an attempt to take Kosovo away. He added that Serbia also should not rush into the EU. “Serbia must not be accomplice in West’s violence” “Serbia must not at any cost, least because of a phantom date for the start of the EU negotiations, be an accomplice in the West’s shameful violence against Serbia and an attempt to take Kosovo away from us,” Kostunica stressed. “Five years ago Albanian separatists violated the UN Charter and (UN Security Council) Resolution 1244 under direct management of the Western powers and with NATO’s military presence and unilaterally declared independence. Five years later it is clear to everyone that this fake state has no legitimacy and that it is formed and sustained by brute force and worst injustice,” the DSS leader said. He added that sheer violence would not do any good as long as Serbia adhered to the international law and the Constitution. “Instead of rushing blindly into the EU, giving up on everything that is truly valuable in the process, it is high time for the authorities to snap out of it and most decisively defend our inalienable right that Kosovo belongs to Serbia. It will be a great and unseen disgrace if Serbia becomes an accomplice and joins the snatchers of our territory,” Kostunica stressed in the written statement.
