BELGRADE The inflation in Serbia should be single-digit and could reach 7.5 percent in 2013, which is more than it was planned, analyst at Sasa Djogovic says. “In the first five months of the year, one can expect inflationary pressures due to spikes in state-regulated prices such as those of electricity, gas, excise goods, while in the second half, one could see a drop in prices,” the Market Research Institute (IZIT) analyst told a news conference. “Inflation could reach 7.5 percent in 2013” “If agricultural yields were average, in circumstances of declining purchasing power, a single-digit inflation could be expected in 2013, but it is not very likely that it would be within the target framework of 5.5 percent, so it is more realistic to count on an inflation of 7.5 percent,” Djogovic said. “That would be significant progress in comparison to the last year's situation, when the inflation stood at 12.5 percent, and a solid foundation for further drop in 2014,” he noted.
