ZVECAN Local Serb officials from northern Kosovo have requested a meeting with Serbian President Tomislav Nikolic and Prime Minister Ivica Dacic. They stressed that it was unacceptable to them to have a border and customs run by the institutions of the so-called "Republic of Kosovo" at the administrative crossings Brnjak and Jarinje. N. Kosovo Serbs want meeting with president Members of the assemblies of the municipalities of Kosovska Mitrovica, Zvecan, Leposavic and Zubin Potok decided to request this after deputy head of the Serbian Government Office for Kosovo and Kosovska Mitrovica Mayor Krstimir Pantic informed them at a joint session about the talks in Brussels. Pantic informed the officials of the four municipalities about the temporary agreement on excise and VAT collection at the crossings in northern Kosovo that the Serbian and Kosovo prime ministers made in Brussels last week. The northern Kosovo officials kept their earlier view, that it was unacceptable to set up a border and customs run by the institutions of the so called Republic of Kosovo. They insisted again on implementing Serbia's tax system. The officials insisted again that the Serbian Constitutional Court give its opinion on whether the government decisions in relation to the agreements between Belgrade and the provisional institutions in Pristina were in line with the Constitution. They condemned the attacks on Serb cemeteries, churches, other facilities, institutions of the Kosovo Serbs and the latest attack on the building of the Kosovska Mitrovica municipality. Pantic said the talks in Brussels involved issues concerning excise and VAT collection at crossings in northern Kosovo, and that all the money collected should go to a fund for the development of the four municipalities in northern Kosovo. The Pristina delegation wanted the companies from northern Kosovo to register again in Pristina, which was not accepted, Pantic stressed. He called on the officials of the four municipalities to be united and pointed out that Kosovo was a single area in terms of customs, according to the Central European Free Trade Agreement, and that rules that followed UN Security Council Resolution 1244 were implemented at crossings. The meeting in Zvecan on Monday was attended also by presidents of the assemblies of the four municipalities, heads of companies from northern Kosovo and officials of the Serbian government office for Kosovo, UNMIK and KFOR.
