EP rapporteur expects “flexible” resolution on Kosovo

BRUSSELS European Parliament (EP) Rapporteur for Serbia Jelko Kacin has expressed hope that the resolution on the Belgrade-Pristina dialogue will be broad and flexible. He added that a meeting between Serbian President Tomislav Nikolic and Kosovo President Atifete Jahjaga should be held as soon as possible with a view to easing tensions. EP rapporteur expects “flexible” resolution on Kosovo “I do not know how this story about the adoption of the platform will end and what the parliament will say to that, but I hope that Serbia will adopt the initial stance which would be broad and flexible enough to ensure not only the continuation of the dialogue, but also an agreement on debatable issues,” Kacin told Tanjug in Brussels. He underlined that it was very important to engage all Serbian state institution in the normalization of the relations with Pristina, particularly Nikolic, from whom he personally expected more. “I believe that a meeting between presidents of Serbia and Kosovo should take place as soon as possible, as a meeting between Nikolic and Jahjaga would considerably reduce the tensions both in Kosovo and southern Serbia,” he said. The EP rapporteur underlined that its was now important to send “positive messages that would create constructive atmosphere and clearly say to all neighbors, Kosovo, and also European institutions, that Serbia could speak with one voice and fulfill what had been agreed”.
