PODGORICA Ivica Dacic says "it is time to put an end to all controversial issues between Serbia and Montenegro as the two countries and nations have closest of ties". "In the previous two decades in the relations between Montenegro and Serbia were marked by a lot of turbulence and I believe it is time all conflicting issues were put ad acta and a stop was put to disagreements," the Serbian prime minister a Tanjug correspondent during his visit to Podgorica on Sunday. "Resolve controversial issues with Montenegro" He said that he contacted Montenegrin Prime Minister Milo Djukanovic with whom he agreed to hold bilateral meetings so as to resolve all controversial issues. "We respect any choice of Montenegrin citizens and we are interested in Serb rights and we want to develop friendship and brotherhood to the best interest of Serbia and Montenegro," Dacic stated. According to him, it is high time to do away with the prejudice that Serbia is a disrupting factor and that Belgrade has any objections to the Montenegrin independence and statehood. Serbia has no aspirations toward Montenegro and it respects all decisions of Montenegrin citizens, Dacic said. Dacic visited the bookshop of the Matica Srpska Library in Podgorica together with Metropolitan Amfilohije of Montenegro and the Littoral of the Serbian Orthodox Church (SPC) and stated that the cultural institution has an important role in the preservation of the Serbian national identity. Dacic had an informal lunch with Montenegrin Parliament Speaker Ranko Krivokapic, Deputy Prime Minister Dusko Markovic and Interior Minister Rasko Konjovic, but the officials did not make any statements for the media after the meeting. Dacic visited Podgorica to attend the funeral of the former Yugoslav Prime Minister Zoran Zizic. (Beta) Tanjug
