Veljanovski welcomed Serbian President Tomislav Nikolic's statements during his recent visit to Macedonia that he was ready to help find a solution for the church dispute. “This engagement is well-intentioned and welcome,” the archbishop said. “The MPC is always ready for a dialogue with the Serbian Orthodox Church (SPC) about the dispute that does not bring anything good to anyone,” he stressed and added that he had sent a letter to Belgrade. According to Veljanovski, the establishment of the MPC in 1967, “200 years after it was illegally abolished” was not a political or a nationalistic but a spiritual act “in accordance with the wishes of the Orthodox people to renew autocephalous spaces for their salvation”.
