BELGRADE Trstenik Mayor Miroslav Aleksic said on Friday that local and foreign investors would be offered a seven-hectare industrial zone in the town. The municipality is taking over a 62-hectare area currently occupied by an airport and is planning to transform it into an industrial zone to offer to investors, Aleksic said at a meeting of the municipal leaders with ministers Mladjan Dinkic and Verica Kalanovic Central town offers investors industrial zone “The Moravian Corridor is a great development chance for Trstenik and the whole of the Rasina District and we used the presence of the representatives of the Ministry of Regional Development and Local Self-Government to agree on the next steps to be taken,” said Aleksic. The municipal representatives said that the municipality had allocated significant amount of money for economic and agriculture development and for projects that they would start realizing in the current year. They also pointed to the great importance of Prva Petoletka A.D. for Trstenik, adding that they expected "big help from Minister Dinkic and the entire government in making things better for the producer". After meeting with the municipal officials, ministers Dinkic and Kalanovic visited Prva Petoletka, which employs 4,000 workers and exports to over 30 countries. The Serbian government will support the EUR 11 million investment plan for the hydraulic and pneumatic equipment manufacturer, Dinkic announced. The government is willing to implement the plan presented by the company's management in the next two years, he said after a visit to the company. There will first be investments in modernizing the company in the way that can yield the biggest impact in the shortest time span, he explained. "We tasked the managers of Prva Petoletka with working with the Ministry of Economy to create a plan on how to have the company finish restructuring within 18 months, deal with old debts and start a new life," Dinkic said. Instead of typical subsidies to cover expenses, the plan involves investments in new equipment because Prva Petoletka has excellent engineers and workers, but also decades-old equipment, the minister stated. Minister of Regional Development and Local Government Verica Kalanovic stressed that the government prioritized this year the economic recovery of certain parts of the country, which was impossible without dealing with companies undergoing restructuring.
