BELGRADE Serbian President Tomislav Nikolic met on Thursday in Belgrade with Chairman of the Accounts Chamber of the Russian Federation Sergei Stepashin. The president noted that it was necessary to carefully control all financial flows, "to make sure no individual was allowed to distort the excellent relations between Serbia and Russia for selfish interests". Stepashin said he and the Serbian state auditor had agreed that after the signing of a strategic cooperation agreement, major joint projects should be subject to a joint audit by the two countries, adding that the joint work of the state auditors should help further improve the relationship between Russia and Serbia. Stepashin conveyed "the warm greetings" of President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin to Nikolic. Serbian Prime Minister Ivica Dacic also received the Russian official today, to say that the cooperation between the state audit institutions of the two countries was aimed at creating a better business environment and improving investment flows. Dacic and Stepashin noted that the friendly relations between Serbia and Russia should help promote the economic cooperation.
