BELGRADE The implementation of the agreement on the integrated crossings management should begin at the Merdare and Jarinje administrative crossings on December 3. This is according to daily Politika. Daily: Implementation of crossings deal to begin on Dec. 3 According to the daily, Belgrade is planning to begin implementing the agreement on the two crossings on December 3 so Prime Minister Ivica Dacic could inform participants of the talks in the next round of negotiations in Brussels about the progress made in the implementation. Politika writes that the agreement would first be implemented at Merdare and Jarinje, at least as far as the infrastructure is concerned, but that it will soon be implemented at the Brnjak and Bela zemlja administrative crossings. Kosovo Deputy Interior Minister Sasa Rasic told Politika that Belgrade and Pristina’s technical team held meetings regularly and discussed details. He noted that customs officers, police and EULEX would be presented at the crossings and that three containers would be located on the central Serbian side and three on Kosovo’s side. When asked whether EULEX took part in preparations for the beginning of the implementation of the agreement, EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Catherine Ashton's Spokeswoman Maja Kocijancic said that “EULEX has continually supported the work of a technical group tasked with the implementation since February”. She told Politika that EULEX continued to cooperate with a working group that met on November 20-21. Kocijancic said “the EU mission is ready to support all conclusions that are in accordance with EULEX’s mandate”. The daily writes that construction machinery is used to flatten the ground in the cross-border zone leading from Jarinje to Rudnica where Serbian police and customs officers will be stationed.
