BELGRADE The acquittal of two Croat generals who committed ethnic cleansing of the Serbian people shows how the EU will treat Serbia in the future. This is according to Democratic Party of Serbia (DSS) deputy leader Nenad Popovic, FoNet has reported. DSS: Serbia should stop EU negotiations “Since the same hand is running the Hague Tribunal and trying to take away Kosovo from Serbia, it is now clear that the same hand will in the future do everything to make Kosovo independent. After the acquittal of the generals who expelled the entire people and torched Serbian houses, we can expect (former leader of the so-called Kosovo Liberation Army, KLA) Ramush Haradinaj, a criminal from Kosovo, to be acquitted,” the DSS official stressed. “This will be a clear message of the EU that a minimum of Serbian interests will not be respected in the solving of the Kosovo issue,” he added. According to him, Serbia should therefore stop the negotiations with the EU and declare political neutrality. “Serbia has been humiliated enough by the EU that does not want to punish criminals and human organ traffickers,” Popovic concluded. Croat Generals Ante Gotovina and Mladen Markac were on Friday acquitted of crimes against Serb civilians during and after the Operation Storm in the summer of 1995.
