KFOR troops stop Kosovo Serbs’ protest ride The vehicles left Kosovska Mitrovica and Zvecan a little after 10:00 CET and the protesters were planning on going to the Jarinje administrative crossing. The protest ride was organized by the Serbo-Slavic Solidarity Association and People's Movement Homeland. KFOR set up barbed wire across a bridge in the vicinity of the checkpoint and later parked vehicles across both lanes of the Kosovska Mitrovica-Raska. After waiting for an hour, the convoy headed back. All the while KFOR was letting through vehicles which were not part of the convoy so there were no major traffic delays on the route from central Serbia to Kosovo via Jarinje. Kosovska Mitrovica Deputy Mayor Momir Kasalovic told reporters that the aim of the peaceful protest drive was to show the Serbs were "not reconciled to the fact someone was about to institute a border between them and central Serbia." Mayors of four northern Kosovo towns did not join the protest ride. One of the organizers Vladimir Rakic said earlier today that the Serbs had gathered in order to take part in a peaceful protest ride and that way send a message to the international community and the Belgrade authorities that they did not agree with the implementation of the agreement on the integrated crossings management. “We do not agree with any form of borders between Kosovo and central Serbia and this is a way of showing our disagreement with the plan to implement the agreement on the integrated crossings management,” he pointed out. Pilot projects will be implemented at the Jarinje and Merdare administrative crossings, in accordance with the agreement reached by Belgrade and Pristina in Brussels.
