BELGRADE National Bank of Serbia (NBS) Governor Jorgovanka Tabakovic has said that the central bank expects Serbia's GDP to grow three percent next year. Speaking during the 9th Raiffeisen Economic Conference in Belgrade on Tuesday, she added that this figure "will be guided by net exports, primarily of the car industry, as well as the low base in 2012". Central bank expects GDP to grow 3 percent Should the farming season next year amount to average, continued Tabakovic, this branch of the economy will also contribute positively to the GDP. The governor noted that the NBS had revised its growth projection for this year from -0.5 to -1.5 percent, and that this came due to the extreme cold weather in February that paralyzed industries, followed by the drought that damaged agriculture.. According to Tabakovic, the net value of FDI in 2013 will reach EUR 1.3bn - "above all in the energy sector". This will be coupled with "a decrease in the payments-balance deficit as a result of expansion in the automobile industry, and with continued fiscal consolidation," the central bank chief told the conference.
