Councilors of the Užice city assembly on Monday dismissed Mayor Jovan Marković of the Democratic Party (DS) and elected Saša Milošević as new mayor.

UZICE Councilors of the Uzice city assembly on Monday dismissed Mayor Jovan Markovic of the Democratic Party (DS) and elected Sasa Milosevic as new mayor. Milosevic is a member of the Serb Progressive Party (SNS) Democrats voted out of power in another city This resolved the three-month political crisis in Uzice, which culminated when the Socialist Party of Serbia (SPS) walked out of the coalition led by the Democratic Party acting on the orders form the party headquarters in Belgrade. The Uzice City Assembly, comprised of 67 councilors, now has a new majority of 41 members as follows: the SNS (12 seats), the SPS - Party of United Pensioners of Serbia (PUPS) - United Serbia (JS) -New Serbia (NS) coalition (15) and the United Regions of Serbia (URS) (7) and the Democratic Party of Serbia (DSS) (7). The DS, the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) and the Serbian Renewal Movement (SPO) are the opposition. Dismissed Mayor Jovan Markovic told Tanjug he believed that “the political math orchestrated from Belgrade would not bring any good to the citizens of Uzice.” The newly elected mayor, economist Sasa Milosevic, announced his resignation from his party function and promised the citizens that they would see the first results of the work of the new coalition as early as in three months from now. He said that the main objectives of the new coalition led by the SNS would be to reduce unemployment, bring new investors and establish economic stability in the city's budget. Tanjug

This resolved the three-month political crisis in Užice, which culminated when the Socialist Party of Serbia (SPS) walked out of the coalition led by the Democratic Party acting on the orders form the party headquarters in Belgrade.

The Užice City Assembly, comprised of 67 councilors, now has a new majority of 41 members as follows: the SNS (12 seats), the SPS - Party of United Pensioners of Serbia (PUPS) - United Serbia (JS) -New Serbia (NS) coalition (15) and the United Regions of Serbia (URS) (7) and the Democratic Party of Serbia (DSS) (7).

Dismissed Mayor Jovan Marković told Tanjug he believed that “the political math orchestrated from Belgrade would not bring any good to the citizens of Užice.”
