BELGRADE Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) leader Cedomir Jovanovic says his party cannot support the state plan for Kosovo. He explained that the plan was an expression of a policy that was “destroying the country”. LDP leader: Plan for Kosovo will ruin Serbia At the LDP Main Board meeting in Belgrade on Sunday, Jovanovic said that Serbia was not ready to recognize Kosovo’s independence and that it would be a mistake to ask Belgrade to do so “because it would be an excuse for another Kosovo myth”. He noted that problems could not be solved with “Milosevic’s techniques“. “After going to Brussels (Serbian PM Ivica) Dacic should have apologized to Serbia and said that every second of his political life in the last 20 years was a mistake and let those who understand the subject get Serbia out of the situation it is in,” Jovanovic stressed. He said that only the LDP could bring a new policy on Kosovo. According to the LDP leader, every international appearance of Serbian President Tomislav Nikolic represents a “diplomatic incident“, his statements have caused protests in Macedonia and Greece and his comments on Srebrenica are “reigniting nationalism”. “Just because Nikolic is not in a hurry to join Europe does not mean that Serbia should try its luck in a pot of brandy,” he said, hinting at Nikolic’s presence at a traditional brandy fest dubbed Rakijada during his official visit to Macedonia. “We need Europe more than ever. If he is not in a hurry, we do need to hurry up,” Jovanovic added. He stated that Serbia would find happiness neither in Brussels nor in Russia and that it needed to decide what it wanted to do. The LDP leader also criticized the government, saying it had no potential to run the country in given circumstances.
