PRESEVO Head of the EU Delegation to Serbia Vincent Degert has said that he was encouraged by the meeting between Ivica Dacic and Hashim Thaci in Brussels last week. Speaking in Presevo, southern Serbia, Degert on Wedensday said that "the task now is to bring the positive atmosphere from Brussels to local governments". EU rep on "positive climate" in wake of Brussels meeting This EU official was in the town to attend the opening of the advisory service for the local citizens, and stressed that the talks in Brussels should strengthen the positive political climate in southern Serbia. The service is a symbol of a responsible municipal administration that tries to be helpful to its people. The fact that it will provide free legal assistance from many domains of life is a great service to the people of this municipality, Degert noted. He met with head of the Presevo municipality Ragmi Mustafa and his associates and said that the municipalities in southern Serbiahad to implement as soon as possible a project concerning waste water and solid waste disposal. At the end of his visit to Presevo, Degert visited the Ibrahim Kelmendi primary school, which is one of the largest in southern Serbia, having 2,200 students. The school marked the end of the work on its redecoration, for which EUR 100,000 had been invested from EU funds. There are no projects more important for this area than those regarding education, said Degert, pointing out that Keljmendi had been a writer and anti-fascist, which obligated the students of the school to foster tolerance, dialogue and democracy.
