NOVI SAD The police in Novi Sad on Tuesday announced that a total of seven men, suspected of causing ethnic hatred and intolerance, had been arrested. The seven, aged 18 to 33, are residents of the Vojvodina towns of Temerin, Becej and Ada. Group of Hungarian extremists under arrest The are suspected of causing incidents over the weekend in Temerin, when they first entered a tavern performing Nazi "Sieg Heil" salutes, to start pushing and insulting the establishment's guest because of their ethnicity. On Monday, the police filed criminal charges against five persons for the Temerin incident. On Tuesday, all members of the group were identified as Atila O., Robert O., Congra K., Norbert K., Kornel K., Tomas S., and Florian A. The police statement also said that they wore the insignia of the Hungarian neo-fascist movement "64 Counties", and that, "upon exiting the tavern",they assaulted two men in the street, injuring them lightly. Furthermore, the police recovered an automatic rifle in Rober O.'s apartment, as well as various parts for the weapon, along with an air rifle, a starter pistol, ten pieces of ammunition, a machete, and the movement's propaganda material. As a consequence this suspect also faces charges of illegal possession of weapons and explosives. The seven have been placed in 48-hour police custody and will be brought before a judge of the Novi Sad Higher Court. Beta
