Deputy PM: Territorial integrity misinterpreted

NOVI SAD, BELGRADE Aleksandar Vucic says Stefan Fule assured him that the mention of "Kosovo's territorial integrity," in EU's 2012 Enlargement Strategy "has been misinterpreted". "I had a long conversation with Fule and received assurances that the intent of this phrase was not as we (in Serbia) have interpreted it," the first deputy prime minister said and voiced hope that this was "just a clumsy formulation". Commenting on the EU report published in Wednesday, Vucic pointed out that "everything in it was more or less expected" and added that there were no "good or easy solutions" when it comes to Kosovo and Metohija. "No one in Serbia will be happy with any solution, and Serbia should only act within the framework in which it can get the most it can and lose as little as possible," Vucic told the press in Novi Sad while meeting with Mayor Milos Vucevic. When asked whether he will take part in talks with Pristina, Vucic replied that no one has offered him anything like that. "I am not running away from responsibility, but I think I have enough duties and obligations. To be honest, I barely have the time to finish my current tasks," Vucic concluded. "Doubt" about EU's status-neutrality The European Commission's (EC) demand that Serbia should respect the territorial integrity of Kosovo and Metohija was "rather disappointing", and gave rise to doubts as to the status-neutrality of all parties to the agreement, Director of the Government Office for Kosovo Aleksandar Vulin said on Thursday. In a statement to Tanjug, Vulin recalled that the EU is obligated to status neutrality under UNSC Resolution 1244, but also under all international documents, even those that brought the EU mission, EULEX, to Kosovo and Metohija in the first place. The demand that Serbia should respect the territorial integrity of Kosovo is yet another reason why Serbia should call for a greater and more significant role of the UN, taking into account that is the institution whose status neutrality is beyond question, Vulin stressed.
