BELGRADE Serbia's Prime Minister Ivica Dacic said on Thursday the government had not discussed whether or not to allow the pride parade to be held in Belgrade. He added that the ultimate decision would be responsible. Decision on Pride Parade to be made soon, PM says He told parliament that holding the gay pride parade was not a requirement for EU accession, adding that he had not seen the parade in Cetinje, although Montenegro was further along in EU integration than Serbia, in Sarajevo or in Pristina, which he described as the EU's favorite. Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) leader Cedomir Jovanovic asked Dacic what would happen on October 6, when the parade is scheduled to take place, and if Belgrade would be turned into a war zone, like several years ago. "No event is allowed, but only banned. We will decide in the coming days if there is going to be a parade," the prime minister noted, adding that most people did not approve of that event. “No threat of violence can be tolerated,” Dacic stressed, asking who gave the right to any organization to decide whether something could or could not take place in Belgrade. "We are either a country or just resemble a country," he remarked, adding that it was wrong to think the government would be frightened by blackmails and threats of violence during the pride parade.
