BELGRADE Serbian Deputy Prime Minister Suzana Grubjesic says it has been agreed in the talks with EU officials that the Belgrade-Pristina dialogue should be direct. She added that it was also agreed that it should be raised to the highest political level but that the Albanian side had not sent a response yet as to whether it accepted this. Deputy PM: Still no response from Kosovo Albanians “This point has been agreed with EU representatives but we have not received a response from the Albanian side as to whether they agree to this,” Grubjesic told Belgrade-based Pink TV and added that this was a good move and that the key message in the speech which Serbian President Tomislav Nikolic delivered before the UN General Assembly was embodied in Serbia's offer for a political dialogue to be opened with Kosovo Albanians on the highest political level. “This was the first time since 1999 that such talks were carried out with highest representatives of Kosovo Albanians,” the Serbian deputy PM noted. Nikolic said in New York on Wednesday that Serbia was committed to the establishment of lasting peace between Serbs and Albanians and that he supported direct talks on the highest political level, without recognition of Kosovo's independence.
