BELGRADE Serbian Deputy Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic says that he will not “back down by an inch“ in revealing of affairs and people involved in them. He stressed that many had called him but that “there is no use”. Deputy PM “won’t back down” in combat against corruption “St. Peter himself can call me but I am not backing down by an inch in this combat I started. I have not been friends with tycoons, I do not own anything to anyone and I have not taken anything from anyone,” the deputy PM noted. He told daily Vecernje novosti that he did not have any information that some current ministers had been given money from people who are in jail and that he would have reacted if he had. “Some said that we were never going to manage going after certain people. As you can see, we have started it. This is only a beginning. The most difficult thing here is to perform pre-investigative and investigative action but I hope that everything will be the way it should,” Vucic stressed. He added that there were politicians who were involved in the affairs. When asked about political revanchism, the deputy prime minister said that it did not exist. “We will strictly adhere to the laws and if someone thinks that they will manage to turn the public against those who will introduce the respect of the law by crying and spinning stories, then it’s their business. But that will not stop me. It will be clear to the people in Serbia very soon what the previous government did. Believe me when I say it is scary,” he was quoted as saying. Vucic said that he and United Regions of Serbia (URS) leader and Finance and Economy Minister Mladjan Dinkic had an agreement they respected, adding that they were trying to do something good for Serbia together.
