KOSOVSKA MITROVICA Serb National Council of Northern Kosovo President Milan Ivanovic says Pristina’s decision to ban Serbian driver’s licenses is unacceptable for Kosovo Serbs. He announced that the decision would not be implemented in northern Kosovo. “Pristina continues to exert pressure on Serbs” The Pristina authorities made a decision to ban the use of the Serbian driver’s licenses in Kosovo as of September 1. Ivanovic told Beta news agency that the “citizens will defend their right to exercise their basic human rights – freedom of movement, expression of their identity, nationality and use of their documents, with all legitimate means”. “Kosovo police members will not implement the decision on driver’s licenses in northern Kosovo because they have to serve the people under jurisdiction of municipal assemblies in the areas they work in northern Kosovo,” he explained. He said that Serbia should implement reciprocal measures. “If Serbs in Kosovo and Metohija cannot use their documents where they live and work, especially those south of the Ibar River, then the same thing should be imposed on Albanians who live in the territory of Serbia”.
