Men's water polo team of Serbia won Olympic bronze at the London Olympic Games on Sunday beating Montenegro 12-11 (3-2, 1-3, 4-5, 4-1).

LONDON Men's water polo team of Serbia won Olympic bronze at the London Olympic Games on Sunday beating Montenegro 12-11 (3-2, 1-3, 4-5, 4-1). The most valuable players in the Serbian team were Filip Filipovic with three goals, and Dusko Pjetlovic and Slobodan Nikic with two goals each. Serbia's water polo team wins Olympic bronze Montenegrins were headed by Aleksandar Ivovic with three points. Coach Dejan Udovicic's team was cheered by Serbian Prime Minister Ivica Dacic, President of the Serbian Olympic Committee Vlade Divac, and Serbia's taekwondo gold medalist Milica Mandic. The final was played between Croatia and Italy, and ended in the former's 8-6 victory (1-2, 2-0, 2-1, 3-3). Serbian President Tomislav Nikolic congratulated Serbia's water polo team and the Water Polo Association of Serbia on the success they made at the London Olympics by winning bronze on Sunday afternoon. “Your bronze that has cast glow on our home land proves that no matter the obstacles, hard work and perseverance always pay off. Thank you for the joy you brought to the citizens, and I am certain that you will do the same for many more times in your career,” President Nikolic said. The Serbian president congratulated the Olympic Committee of Serbia on the 102nd medal, wishing it even more success at the next Olympic Games, the president's press service said. Serbian Minister of Youth and Sport Alisa Maric also congratulated Serbia's water polo team on the Olympics bronze, “You have made a great success and thus continued the great trophy tradition that the Serbian team has had in the world for decades,” the minister underlined in the congratulation note.
