LONDON Milica Mandic won Serbia's first Olympic gold of the London Games by taking the taekwondo title in the women's 67-kilogram plus division late on Saturday. She beat Anne-Caroline Graffe of France 9-7 in the final match. Serbia’s Mandic wins Olympic taekwondo gold This was Serbia's third medal in London and the 101st medal in the country's Olympic history. Previously at the 2012 Olympics, Serbia got medals from shooters Andrija Zlatic (bronze) and Ivana Maksimovic (silver). On the way to the title, the 20-year-old Serbian athlete knocked out Talitiga Crawley of Samoa (16:2), Maria Espinoza of Mexico (6-4), and in the semi-final Anastasia Baryshnikova of Russia (11-3). Serbian Prime Minister Ivica Dacic personally congratulated Mandic and her coach Dragan Jovic in London's hall ExCel ahead of the awarding ceremony, stressing that this was a historic win and Serbia's first Olympic gold after 12 years. Mandic also received congratulations from Serbian President Tomislav Nikolic, Minister of Youth and Sport Alisa Maric, Belgrade Mayor Dragan Djilas, and Belgrade City Assembly Speaker Aleksandar Antic.
