BELGRADE Serbia's outgoing prime minister, Mirko Cvetkovic, on Friday rejected the allegations that he was involved in the illegal privatization of Montenegro's Telekom. Cvetkovic's cabinet said in a statement carried by Tanjug that the prime minister "never in his whole life met anyone from the Montenegrin Telekom, let alone participated in the company's privatization". PM denies involvement in Montenegrin privatization affair "Mr. (Nebojsa) Medojevic's allegations are not true, Premier Cvetkovic is not the owner of the CES Mecon company, and he never met anyone from the Montenegrin Telekom," the release added. It came in reaction to a statement made on Friday by Montenegrin opposition Movement for Changes leader Nebojsa Medojevic, who said he suspected Cvetkovic was involved in the affair of the illegal privatization of the Montenegrin telecommunications company. A serious financial investigation would "resolve the dilemma", he added. Speaking for Podgorica's Dan newspaper, Medojevic said the Belgrade-based CES Mecon - which he said was owned by Cvetkovic - served as one of the service off-shore firms "used to make fake consultancy contracts worth EUR 7.35mn", related to the privatization. "A serious serious financial investigation would resolve this dilemma, but it's interesting to note that former (Montenegrin) PM Milo Djukanovic, who conducted the privatization of Telekom along with Veselin Vukotic, publicly accuses Serbia for all his problems - and even the government of Cvetkovic - while he secretly uses the services of companies connected to him," Medojevic was quoted as saying.
