FRANKFURT Marko Jaksic thinks a partition of Kosovo "would not be the solution", and that Serbia should not hurry in solving the problem of its southern province. "Even if things are boiling, they're not boiling over. There's no need to rush in with a solution for Kosovo and Metohija," Jaksic told the Frankfurt-based Serbian language daily Vesti, and added: Serb leader speaks against "rushing with Kosovo solution" "The U.S. and EU are in a hurry because they know the new geopolitical map is to Serbia's advantage. That is why they want to close the Kosovo issue. We should not agree to any negotiations, but protect Serbdom and run our own policy." Jaksic, who is a member of the DSS party presidency and an MP, as well as one of the leaders of Serbs in Kosovo, pointed out that 220,000 Serbs had been forced out of there homes there and that this crime "should not be allowed to pay off". Commenting on media rumors about "a new operation in northern Kosovo by the Kosovo special police", he stated that he had heard nothing about that. "They have conducted so many operations so far, and KFOR has violated its mandate a number of times. It is not there to provide safety for the Serbs, and the number of those killed testifies to that," Jaksic remarked, adding that when a Serb couple were recently murdered in their home in Kosovo "neither KFOR nor EULEX were there to protect them."
